Published: November 03, 2022

  1. The BLS task Force addressed and updated several fundamental topics, including minimizing pauses in chest compressions and compression-or ventilation-first strategies in drowning.
  2. A review of compression quality during transport by the BLS task force led to updated recommendations.
  3. Target temperature management was a primary focus of the ALS task force in response to newly released data and resulted in updated treatment recommendations.
  4. The ALS task force also reviewed and updated their recommendations on the diagnostic use of ultrasound during resuscitation and the use of vasopressin and steroids during cardiac arrest.
  5. Public access defibrillation programs have been heavily discussed for the adult population but now have recommendations for specific use in the pediatric population.
  6. Recommendations for some core actions of neonatal resuscitation include the prevention of hypothermia and suctioning after delivery and were reviewed and updated by the Neonatal task force
  7. The Neonatal task force reviewed and updated several airway recommendations including the use of supraglottic airways and the use of respiratory function and ECG monitoring.
  8. The Education Implementation and Teams task force continued to strengthen their stance around attending certified courses as well as the need to focus trainings on high-risk populations to support better response by individuals within that community.
  9. Faculty development of course instructors is essential, but how to best train instructors is still an area that needs further research.
